Vintage Covered Jar Poterie Renault- 8L
Vintage Covered Jar Poterie Renault- 8L
In 1846, Stanislas Renault opened a workshop on the grounds of an old castle in the Loire Valley, France, laying the foundation for what would become a French institution. Made from local grey clay and finished by hand, his salt-glazed pottery soon became a staple not only in local cafés but also in restaurants and hotels across the country. It was the salt glazing technique that produced the glossy, textured finish that made the pieces iconic. Sea salt was tossed into the kiln at the highest temperatures during the firing process to achieve the distinctive results seen in each piece from this factory.
Even after five generations, although the company has halted production, its legacy persists, and its pieces continue to symbolize enduring craftsmanship. These items are no longer in production, making them rare treasures.
